Upon finishing, I went to various manufacturers' website to get latest drivers for motherboard, video card, etc. (including restarts and such) and then shut down for the day. Run its tests and write down the info.
In the new Computer Management window expand "Storage" if necessary and click on Disk Management. If all the information on that troublesome disk's partition block information is OK but it merely is missing a letter name like F:, you should be able to fix it here. But the new SATA is not detecting, even in the BIOS. RIGHT-click on it and, from the menu, choose to Partition the drive.

Try joining our free forums and ask there, as well. On many drives there may be only one Partition that uses up all of the HDD space.

I have very important data on this drive which I really need... Installing Second Sata Hard Drive Without Raid RIGHT-click on it and, from the menu, choose to Partition the drive. Not sure who your manufacturer is but you might want to check with them before buying a drive to see if the recovery media will work.

Thanks in advance June 16, 2012 Mark Hi, i am running two hardrives a 74gb WD and a 1.5TB WD both SATA drives, the problem I am having is that sometimes I would also consider flashing the BIOS if you're comfortable doing so-just in case this is a known issue that was fixed in an update. I perviously used Computer managment to format the new internal HD but that did nothing. Tried to copy the contents of one partition to a new partition and something went wrong, from that point the drive would behave erratically (I assume the partition table was damaged).
Boot manager was missing. If you used Windows Disk Management to Delete ALL its partitions, one at a time, that should work. Why would any interstellar starship still bother with streamline body design? Turned off computer, pulled the SATA cable and plugged it back in.
